Role Models of Success: Your Life Sucks Because Your Friends Suck

Introduction
There are SO MANY methods of success being taught out there.
There are live seminars, audiobooks, books, movies, websites, forums, and information products filled with information on success.
People have become information whores in this day and age of great knowledge.
Everybody wants the latest and greatest, and many people want to improve their lives; however nearly everyone is going about it all wrong!
I am going to share a secret with you that I wish I had known earlier in my life.
This one secret beats everything else by a million fold.
The secret is: People.

The Hard Way to Success

The average person is stubborn.
He will try to learn success the hard way: on his own.
Here is his approach:

  • Read books
  • Watch movies
  • Listen to audiobooks
  • Attend Seminars
  • Start Planning
  • Start putting those plans into actions
  • Make many mistakes along the way
  • Learn from mistakes
  • Reattempt action
  • Action finally succeeds
  • Much doubt is encountered along the way
  • Many people want him to quit
  • After much labor, he gains a lot of Wisdom
  • The Wisdom finally makes him smart enough to be an expert in his field
  • Now he goes about trying to find other experts of similar interests, and he networks with them.

I’ll be honest: This is how I went about doing things for most of my life. Matter of fact, I would even say that the situation is even present up until the very present moment when I am typing these words.
My issue is that nobody has really done what I aim to do, so I had to do things on my own. And, there will be times when you will have to do everything on your own as well.
Edison had himself.
Einstein had himself.
Tesla had himself.
Ayn Rand had herself.
There is definitely a great beauty in doing something on your own, but that beauty only exists if the goal you are attempting has pretty much never before been accomplished.
If you are trying to achieve success in something that others have already achieved, then it is FOOLISH to do things in the aforementioned manner.

The SMART Way to Success

The smarter way to success is by doing EVERYTHING I just said backwards.
– START with finding people who are experts in the field you desire to be an expert on, and then network with them!
Look, you can read all of the books you want, but nothing will change your life faster than direct association with somebody who lives the life you want to live.
The philosophy is simple: Birds of a feather flock together.
People are far more changeable than you think. In order to turn a Saint into a serial killing rapist, all you have to do is put the saint amongst such thieves for about 40 days. By the 40th day, the saint surely may not be a rapist or a murderer; however his entire psychology will be drastically different than before. Eventually, he WILL be like the people he surrounds himself with.

It’s funny. On the outside, I was an honest man- straight as an arrow. I had to come to prison to be a crook.– The Shawshank Redemption

If you are doing something that hasn’t been done before, then go ahead and do it on your own. There is no other way, and the world needs your contributions.
BUT, if you are doing something that has been achieved before, then DON’T waste your time doing it on your own. Find a mentor or find someone who has amazing success in your desired area.
If you want to become a pro basketball player, play with people who play basketball 10 times better than you do.
If you want to become a pro skateboarder, skate with people who tear up halfpipes.- Shawn White was trained by Tony Hawk.
If you are horrible with women, then surround yourself with men who are surrounded BY women!
Now, first of all you might be thinking, “But Numair, HOW AM I going to find a Tony Hawk or some celebrity to train me?”
– Alright, alright, true, you may not be as fortunate as to have access to A-list athletes and experts.
But, who cares?
There are PLENTY of people who play basketball, skateboard, study attraction, and engage in thousands of other fields.
SURROUND yourself with THEM.
Don’t give me any stupid excuse about distance either. If you want something badly enough, you will find a way to make it happen.
Now, if you live in a rural area where you really can’t access people of the like, then yes, stick to training yourself. Make the best of your resources, and work hard.
But, if you can AT LEAST meet up with someone once a week, it will change your life in ways you cannot even imagine.

Experience teaches slowly, Robin. And at a cost of many mistakes.– Batman

One of the GREATEST resources you can use is www.meetup.com
Go to that website and look for groups that are near your vicinity.
This website blew me away. I never knew that there were so many people out there who shared similar views to me. Do yourself a favor and find a group to associate yourself with. This will change your life faster than any book will.
So, are you ready to achieve greatness? Awesome.
Then, go to meetup.com and find groups to associate yourself with.
There is a certain law in psychology known as the Law of Five.
If I wanted to know how much money you make, all I’d have to do is take your five best friends’s salaries and average them together. The result is your salary. – YOU ARE THE AVERAGE of the five people you spend the most time with: Your life Sucks because your friends Suck. Comprende? Choose better friends.
The fact is, there are going to be many people in your life who try to hold you back. And, when they see that you are trying to succeed, they will hold you back even harder because they feel UNCOMFORTABLE when they see someone they know rise to levels of success. People are used seeing you a certain way, and when you try to rise against the norm, they fight to keep you as a conformer. Ditch these people.
If you want any greatness in life, you must be careful about who you become friends with. Now, i am not telling you to drop your current friends. Keep them if they help you grow. If they are holding you back, but you still want to be friends with them, then just spend less time with them on an ongoing basis.
If you have the money, sure, hire a mentor. You can get one from nightingale.com, but I would advise against this unless you KNOW your life’s purpose.
If you wanna become more muscular, a better athlete, a better singer, a better cook, a better DANCER, then do yourself a favor and surround yourself with people who are better than you.
You can read later.
Stay tuned for my next post: The Science of Contagious, You Turn My Pages. It explains the science behind all of this. It’s gonna be a very sexy read, so be ready! You’ll learn WHY all of this works. I’ll use scientific facts to prove all of it. Be ready!
